It is a mixture of long-chain aliphatic alcohols belonging to the fatty alcohols group, containing 12 to 16 carbon chains. It can be obtained from natural sources or by synthetic means. It is preferred in cosmetic preparations due to its emulsifier, moisturizer and surface active properties.
