Paraffin-Free Products
In cosmetics, paraffin is an ingredient derived from a petroleum, commonly known as mineral oil or paraffin oil. Paraffin is used for a variety of functions in cosmetic formulations. It prevents water loss by forming a protective barrier on the skin and helps maintain the skin's moisture balance. It leaves the skin feeling soft. Paraffin protects against external factors by forming a waterproof layer on the skin. The term ''paraffin-free'' means that the product does not contain paraffin in its formulation. Paraffin-free products contain vegetable oils, beeswax or natural oil-based ingredients to moisturize the skin. These alternatives leave the skin feeling lighter. Paraffin prevents water loss by forming a protective barrier on the skin, but it can clog pores and cause acne in some skin types. Paraffin-free products, on the other hand, may give better results on porous skin because they cause fewer such problems. Paraffin-free products may be safer for sensitive skin due to their natural ingredients and may reduce the risk of irritation.
